Understanding repair guide prices

Read starting prices, assessment-only entries and turnaround guides without mistaking them for a final quote.

A starting price belongs to a named service

A guide price describes a specific catalogue service, not the cheapest way to repair everything in a category. A heel tip, a whole leather sole and a lining repair involve different parts and scopes. Read the service title and its limits alongside the number.

The Guide prices page lists the published service prices in pounds sterling. This library explains the work without repeating those amounts. Where assessment is required, ask the studio for a quotation; an unknown amount does not mean a free service.

Why the final scope can differ

Construction, material choice, size, access and surrounding condition can change the work. A worn attachment may involve hidden reinforcement; a lining may need opening to reach a zip; an apparently local surface concern may be wider material wear.

The studio confirms what is included, which parts are being worked on and the final price after assessment. Ask about material options, any related tasks and tax treatment as relevant to the proposed quote. No blanket inclusion or tax claim should be inferred from a general guide figure.

Several tasks do not always add up mechanically

Repair and care can be requested together under one item. That does not mean every listed starting price should simply be added. Some tasks may overlap or already include a finishing step, while another requested service may not be suitable for the material.

Keep a note of your choices and discuss the combined brief. Separate items remain separate groups so that the studio can distinguish work for a pair of shoes from work on a bag or jacket. A guide subtotal is a planning aid; it is not a binding combined quote.

Turnaround is a guide, not an appointment

The catalogue may show an estimated working-day range for an individual service. Parts, access, combined work and the actual condition can affect completion. The studio confirms timing after the scope and availability are established.

If an item is needed for travel or an event, discuss that date early and wait for confirmation before making plans around it. An enquiry does not reserve an appointment or confirm paid work. Agree the scope, quotation and arrangements with the studio.
