Keep the whole item available
A close view of damage is useful, but the whole piece gives context. Keep a pair of shoes together, empty a bag or garment's pockets, and retain any detached fitting. Do not remove damaged material just to make the item look tidier before inspection.
For bulky furniture, vehicle components or large luggage, contact the studio before arranging transport or removal. Access and specialist responsibilities may affect the assessment. A library page does not establish shipping arrangements or permission to dismantle an item.
Describe what happened and what you want
Say where the concern is, when you noticed it and how the item is used. Mention earlier repairs, stains, coatings and products applied. Useful details include a suitcase wheel that no longer turns, stitching opening beside a handle, or a zip with missing teeth.
Explain the desired outcome: continued daily use, a cleaner appearance, preservation of original material or a particular finish. Those are different briefs. Add any deadline as information to discuss, rather than treating a catalogue turnaround range as a completion promise.
Take contextual and detailed photographs
For an initial conversation, show the whole item, the affected part and another angle that explains its attachment. Footwear may need views of both soles; a bag attachment may need an interior view; a zip concern should show the slider and the damaged teeth or tape.
Use ordinary clear light and keep the relevant area in focus. Avoid filters that change colour or hide wear. Photographs cannot confirm every hidden layer or produce an exact colour match, so the studio may still need to inspect the actual piece. Do not include personal documents, security-key details or unnecessary identifying information.
Contact the studio before sending
Start an enquiry with the studio and describe each item separately. The enquiry page explains how to contact us and attach photographs. Browsing a guide or preparing a message does not send an enquiry or book work.
The studio is at 49 Nork Way, Banstead SM7 1PB. Call 01737 323492 or use the contact details on the main studio website. For UK postal enquiries, agree assessment and shipping arrangements before dispatch. A confirmed scope and price come before any agreed work, and suitability is assessed for the actual item.
