Bespoke leather repairs, straps, cases and unusual projects
Bring an unusual leatherwork brief: straps, belts, covers, cases, accessories and complex repair projects that do not fit a standard service heading.
Not every useful leather item fits a familiar catalogue heading. The studio welcomes complex and unusual leatherwork: a replacement strap, a cherished carrying case, a practical cover, a small accessory or an item assembled from several materials. If you cannot find it in the repair library, describe the item and the result you need.
A bespoke brief starts with its purpose, dimensions, construction and materials. Repairing an original component, making a suitable replacement and changing how an item works are different requests. The studio can assess the possibilities and agree the details before work, including how any new leather or fitting will relate to the original.
Work to discuss
- Individual strap, belt, keeper, tab and leather-fitting repair enquiries.
- Repair or replacement-component briefs for cases, covers, pouches and accessories.
- Complex seam, lining, panel and reinforcement assessment.
- Preservation-led discussion of vintage, sentimental and hard-to-replace pieces.
- Combined repair and restoration briefs across several leather components.
What the studio assesses
- The purpose of the item, dimensions and any parts it must fit.
- The strength, flexibility, colour and finish needed from a replacement component.
- Any load-bearing, protective, technical or manufacturer requirements.
Prepare a useful brief.
- Bring the original item, a detached component or clear dimensions where appropriate.
- Explain how it is used and what you would like to preserve or change.
- Contact the studio first for large, fragile or technical items and before sending them by post.
Contact the studio before posting technical, large or fragile items. We agree the approach, price and timing after assessment.
Discuss your item with the studio.
Tell us what the item is, how it is used and what needs attention. Include photographs where you can. An enquiry starts a conversation; work begins after the scope and price are agreed.
