Norwegian Derby

Men's Shoes

A Derby (also called a Blucher, especially in the US) has open lacing - the quarters sit on top of the vamp rather than underneath it, so the two sides can spread further apart. That makes Derbys generally easier to get on and more forgiving of a higher instep, which is why we see more of them come in for stretching. The Norwegian Derby stands apart in this group - it uses a distinctive hand-stitched apron-toe seam with a decorative moccasin-style stitch, and any repair to that toe seam has to be matched by hand, not machine, to keep it looking right.
