Furniture leather is chosen and finished very differently to automotive leather - thicker, more often aniline or semi-aniline in premium pieces, and expected to soften and develop a patina with age rather than stay looking factory-new. Repairs range from surface conditioning and recolouring through to re-stitching seams, rebuilding sagged cushion foam, and re-covering individual panels, and we work in the client's home for large or fitted pieces as well as in the studio for anything that can be collected or delivered. Matching grain, colour and the specific leather type - full aniline, semi-aniline, pigmented and protected - matters more here than almost anywhere else, since furniture leather is looked at closely and touched constantly.

Sofas

Furniture Upholstery

A sofa's seat cushions and the front edge of the arms take the most concentrated wear - seat leather compresses and can crack at the point where you sit down repeatedly, while arm fronts wear from being used to push up out of the seat. Because a sofa is one of the largest single pieces of leather furniture, matching a repair patch to the surrounding panel is more visible here than on a smaller chair, so we prioritise recolouring and blending over patch repairs wherever the leather condition allows it.
